The SSWSC ski jumping and nordic combined teams competed last week, October 10-11, 2023, at the USA Nordic National Championships and Youth Olympic Games qualifier. Athletes competing against the nation's top athletes in ski jumping and nordic combined events at the Olympic Jumping Complex in Lake Placid, NY.
Four SSWSC cross country ski team members traveled to Soldier Hollow, UT, to participate in last weekend's Schutzenski Rollerski Festival. The Schutzenski Festival took place October 12-15, 2023, and included cross country roller skier races and biathlon with top athletes from around the country. For the rollerski events, athletes use matched (same brand-same speed) rollerskis to ensure fairness.
We are excited to announce that through a generous donation from Les and Linda Liman/Twin Enviro Services, SSWSC has purchased space at the base of Steamboat Ski Resort in the Torian Plum Building. This new facility will be named the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Mountain Learning Center (SSWSC MLC)!
Three TeamSteam athletes traveled to Park City last week for Project Gold. Gathering the top junior mogul skiers in the nation, Project Gold is an opportunity for the selected athletes to water ramp with the US Ski Team coaches, tramp at the Center of Excellence, and participate in dryland with the strength and conditioning coach for the US Team.
The Steamboat High School Mountain Bike Team competed in the fourth race of The Colorado High School Cycling League series. The team was again 1st place in Division 2, for the fourth time in the four-race series, locking up 1st place in Division 2 for the Yampa Division series, and the team took home a total of eight podium finishes.
