The 2024 Youth Olympic Games are concluding in Gangwon, South Korea, and SSWSC athletes are returning home to Steamboat with amazing experiences and some medals. Ella Wilson, Arthur Tirone, Sawyer Graves, Jason Colby, Estella Hassrick, Grey Barbier, Abby McLarnon, and Rocke Weinberg all represented the United States and Steamboat at the games.
Tristan Thrasher wins the U16 5K individual start skate race, and Henry Magill wins the 7.5K U18/U20 race. More athletes had top-ten finishes throughout the race days. Charley Lodwick U20 and Tig Loomis U16 had the second fastest time in the classic sprint qualifier.
Riley McNew wins U19 women's category and Cooper Malia wins U15 men's. Madden Broyles was 2nd in the U15 women's competition in her first Big Mountain event.
Cross country ski athlete Henry Magill placed 5th U18, just 6 seconds off the podium, at the Bauhaus Cup interval start classic ski race in Falun, Sweden, on January 21, 2024. He is traveling with an elite group of U18 U.S. skiers for the U18 Scandinavian Trip, providing international race experience to the best cross country skiers in the U.S.
