Three athletes from two snowboard programs competed in the USASA Gromfest Slopestyle competition at Winter Park on Sunday, February 19. Athletes Trevon Shoemaker, Summit Lynch, and Madden Matuga all showed up and gave their best effort immediately following a competition day at our home mountain at Howelsen Hill.
Seventeen athletes from Devo Team and Boardriderz raced in the slalom and giant slalom Races at Howelsen Hill on Saturday, February 17. Athletes could choose to compete in one to four races. Five Boardriderz athletes competed for the first time alongside their Devo Team role models; three took home medals!
The Snowboard Senior Team was in Park City, Utah, on February 14 for their first USASA Futures Tour Slopestyle event of the season. The Futures Tour is a step up from the regional competitions, and athletes knew this was going to be a heightened challenge to see where they stood amongst competitors from across North America.
Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club alumnae Alexa Brabec earned two silver medals in Nordic Combined, and alum Erik Belshaw earned silver in Ski Jumping at the FIS Nordic Junior World Championships in Planica, Slovenia. Both athletes make history as the first ever in their disciplines from the United States to podium at World Junior events.
Alpine athletes competed in the Northern Michigan University Rocky Central Qualifier MidAm Atmore Memorial at Spirit Mountain in Duluth, Minnesota, on February 9-11, 2024. On the first day of racing Mollie McTigue was 3rd place overall in the women’s race and 2nd place U18.
