Nine Moguls athletes were in Waterville Valley, NH, last week for the U.S. Mogul Freestyle Championships. Competing against the best skiers in the US, TeamSteam put forward their best efforts, seized the opportunity, and made their coaches proud.
Chad Wolk will join the SSWSC coaching team as Head Coach of the FIS Alpine Ski Program, working with U18/U21 and post-high school athletes. He has impressive credentials working with top-level athletes and joins a staff of current SSWSC alpine coaches who are passionate and committed to excellence in youth alpine athlete development on and off the mountain. He will start on May 1, 2024.
Jackson True is the U19 Freestyle Moguls Junior National Championship in every event, and Reise Wilson is the U17 Freestyle Moguls Junior National Champion. Ten athletes qualify for U.S. Freestyle Nationals in Waterville Valley, NH.
The U.S. Cross Country Junior Nationals took place last week, March 11-16, in Lake Placid, NY., the 1980 Winter Olympic Games site. Fifteen Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes qualified for the Junior Nationals, and 13 attended the event along with three SSWSC coaches to represent the Rocky Mountain region in the races. Cross Country Athlete Tristan Thrasher brings home bronze in freestyle skate race and SSWSC athletes bring home multiple top-10 results.
Virginia Boyd and Kendall Harrington placed second and third in the Holeshot Cross Tour race on March 16, and Virginia Boyd won the FIS race on March 19. Both women qualify for Junior Worlds in April.
