The 2023-2024 All-Star Team includes 63 athletes, 29 alpine skiers, 24 freestyle skiers, and ten ski jumping and Nordic combined athletes. Making the team is considered one of the highest honors attainable within an athlete’s division. The RMD All-Stars are named to the team based on results from the previous season and must complete a rigorous athlete fitness assessment conducted each fall.
At the end of the 2023 High School Mountain Bike race season, the Colorado Cycling League honored Blair Seymour, Director of People and Sport Development, with the Outstanding Partner Award. Each year, the Colorado Cycling League recognizes individuals or organizations whose outstanding partnership is integral to the success of the Colorado League's season.
The Colorado High School Cycling League State Championship Spring Valley Scramble took place last weekend on the grounds of Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs, October 21 – 22, 2023. Twenty athletes from Steamboat Springs competed in the event. The Steamboat High School Mountain Bike Team won the Division 2 overall category and the highly coveted Team Spirit award, showing the strongest team spirit out of 87 teams—this year’s theme at state championships was DISCO, and had multiple top ten finishes.
The SSWSC ski jumping and nordic combined teams competed last week, October 10-11, 2023, at the USA Nordic National Championships and Youth Olympic Games qualifier. Athletes competing against the nation's top athletes in ski jumping and nordic combined events at the Olympic Jumping Complex in Lake Placid, NY.
Four SSWSC cross country ski team members traveled to Soldier Hollow, UT, to participate in last weekend's Schutzenski Rollerski Festival. The Schutzenski Festival took place October 12-15, 2023, and included cross country roller skier races and biathlon with top athletes from around the country. For the rollerski events, athletes use matched (same brand-same speed) rollerskis to ensure fairness.
