Hotshot male skiers included Winston Witten, Jackson Kormer, Kai Riegler, Theo Givnish, and Anderson Agopian. Ebby Hill, Mathilda Spaustat, and Liza Stone brought the girl power. Summit Lynch was the lone U12 snowboarder but packed plenty of punch.
Cross country athlete Tristan Thrasher Wins Biathlon Competition in Norway
Cross country athlete Tristan Thrasher won the biathlon G16 category at the 2024 Bama Liatoppen Skiskytterfestival in Liagardane, Norway, on April 13, 2024. Tristan Thrasher and Davis Brosterhous competed in the events representing U.S. Biathlon. Brosterhous also finished in the top 20 in the J16 category, finishing 14th out of nearly 60 competitors. Tristan also earned the Hans Jorgen Tveito Memorial Award for the top athlete in his age category.
Gigi Boyd and Kendall Harrington Compete in the 2024 Snowboard Cross Junior World Championships
Two SSWSC athletes, GiGi (Virgina) Boyd and Kendall Harrington, represented the United States last week when they competed in the 2024 FIS Snowboard Cross Junior World Championships April 5-7, 2024 in Gudauri, Georgia.
U16 Athlete Logan Grosidier is the Overall U16 Alpine National Champion
Four SSWSC U16 Alpine Team athletes—Logan Grosdidier, Caley Goforth, Bella Fisher, and Mathew Kafka — qualified to compete in the U16 National Championship in Vail, Colorado, from March 31 to April 4. After a week of racing, Logan Grosdidier emerged as the undisputed victor, taking home gold in all four timed events and seventh in the SkillsQuest Assessment.
Snowboard Team Storms 2024 USASA Nationals at Copper Mountain
Thirty-six SSWSC Snowboard Team athletes competed in the 2024 USASA Nationals last week. Athletes from SSWSC ranged in age from 7 to 26 and competed in halfpipe, slopestyle, rail jam, boardercross, slalom, or giant slalom from March 30 to April 4, 2024, at Copper Mountain. Madden Matuga was 1st place overall Nationals Champ for Ruggie Boys (7-8), Bridger Eavenson was 7th overall for Ruggie Boys (7-8), and Summit Lynch was 6th overall for Menehune Boys (11-12).
