USASA Freeski Rail Jam and Halfpipe Competition at Howelsen Hill and Steamboat Resort
On March 2-3, three freeski athletes competed in the USASA Rail Jam and Halfpipe competitions here in Steamboat. The Rail Jam was held on Saturday at Howelsen Hill, and the Halfpipe was held at Steamboat Resort.
One of the three athletes, Otto Evans, was the youngest competitor on both days at just seven years old and finished 1st in both the Rail Jam and Halfpipe.
In the 11-14 boys’ Rail Jam, James Zarlengo finished first, stomping a variety of tricks on all the features, and Tanner Van Ness finished eighth with a switch of 270 on 270 off.
The following day in the 11-12 boys halfpipe, James finished 1st and Tanner 2nd, both landing clean runs.
