U18 Alpine Team Brings Home Multiple Podiums at U18 National Championships
After more than a week of epic snowfall, postponements, and cancellations, the U18 National Championships operations crew in Jackson, Wyoming, pulled off six of the ten races planned for the week: one slalom, one giant slalom, and one Super G for each gender. SSWSC athletes took home medals in every discipline. On Sunday, March 3, after coming back from an injury and a year off of racing, Noelle Roth won the U18 National Championship title in slalom, and Katharina Cosby was 4th. In the men’s giant slalom race on the same day, Adrian Beauregard cracked the top 20 with a 13th place. On Monday, it was Katharina Cosby’s turn to stand on the podium with a 2nd place finish in the giant slalom, and Hazel Fernley made an impressive jump from bib 52 to 15th place. For the men, Adrian Beauregard was 4th in the slalom.
Races didn’t resume until Friday due to more snow and soft conditions. The downhill races were canceled earlier in the week, but the Super G races, the last races in the series, took place on Friday morning. Adrian Beauregard took the bronze in 3rd place and Caman Beauregard was 14th for the men. In the women’s Super G race, Katharina Cosby had the best finish for the women in 7th, and Mollie McTigue had her best finish of the week in 11th place.
Adrian Beauregard and Katharina Cosby’s consistency throughout the race series paid off. Adrian was 3rd overall for the men and Kat was 2nd overall for women’s at the conclusion of the U18 National Championship series. Congratulations to all the athletes.
