SSWSC Bobby Aldighieri Departure
Dear SSWSC families,
As many of you are aware, SSWSC’s Freestyle Program Director Bobby Aldighieri will be leaving his position at the end of this week to focus more intently on his career in real estate. Bobby has served as the club’s Freestyle Director since 2014, and has made a significant impact, particularly with his envisioning and guidance of the discipline’s high performance programs. Under Bobby’s leadership, the program had an impressive streak of six years with at least one new SSWSC mogul skier being nominated to the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team. His mentorship helped two SSWSC coaches, Kate Blamey and Lars Johnson, earn U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Freestyle Coach of the year honors during this time. Bobby’s disciplined approach to skiing and acrobatics prepared SSWSC skiers well to compete at a high level. During the past season, Bobby took leadership of the U15 team, where he infused fun into the program while at the same time teaching hard work and precision in execution.
Bobby has built a great team of coaches to carry the program forward. Full-time veteran coach Ann Battelle and recent hire Sam Tarrant along with the winter coaches will lead the program into next season as we search for a new program director. Moving forward our top priority is to seek an interim Freestyle Director for the upcoming season and a Head U15 Moguls coach. We will be working on this over the next few weeks and hope to have an announcement by early September. We are working together with Bobby on plans that could keep him coaching on a part-time basis.
Steamboat has a great tradition of mogul skiing and we are committed to keep the legacy going. We are extremely appreciative of the contributions that Bobby has made during his time as Freestyle Director at the club, and wish him success in his new career.
Best regards,
Sarah, Jon and Dave
