Snowboard
We had a great weekend at Howelsen Hill, hosting a USASA level 100 clinic. Nichole Mason from U.S. Ski & Snowboarding was the lead clinician. We had a total of 13 attendees with 12 of them SSWSC coaches. Saturday consisted of the in class portion with topics including movement analysis, coach roles, learning styles and technical coaching terms/tools.
Sunday was spent mostly on hill with coaches leading and teaching a skill using all the materials learned the day before. The coaches were given feedback and tested. All attendees passed and are now certified coaches. We are pleased to announce ALL SSWSC Snowboard coaches are certified! First time ever! Thank you to Fairview Commercial Lending and their generous donation, we couldn’t have done it without them!
Alpine
We have been incredibly lucky to have such wonderful snow making operations to benefit our athletes early season this year! Huge thanks to Steamboat Resort for the incredible conditions on All Out!
Opening Day
Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation generously started off the 2018-19 Ski Season with at $50,000 check to the SSWSC! Guests were pushing glass at 5am this morning to get the first turns, SSWSC athletes were handing out stickers and bracelets, Resort Staff were offering powdered donuts and drinks, and even the Northern Ute Tribe came out in the 12 degree weather to offer a snow dance and prayer for the season! It’s going to be an amazing winter!
