Overall, it was an amazing tour! We had a lot of ups and down and crazy weather to deal with. We started off the tour with -46 degree temps in Stratton Vermont and ended with a blue bird sunny day in British Columbia.

Freeskiing
The Freeskiing and Snowboarding Programs teamed up last weekend to bring a USASA Rocky Mountain Series weekend here to Steamboat. Mother Nature thew 26 inches of fresh snow at the teams, but the diligent work of the our staff, Volunteers and Steamboat Park Crew the events were held in great venues considering all of the snow.
The athletes had a great opportunity to put this weeks focus, Mental Preparation, into action. Their results speak to the teams ability to focus on the task hand

It was a great weekend competing on our home turf. SSWSC athletes who don’t usually travel to compete with us were able to compete for their first time and learn about the “competition world”. We definitely battled the elements with all the snow that came through but it was nothing us “Steamboatians” weren’t used to. Saturday’s halfpipe contest was during the day at Steamboat Resort and then we came to Howelsen Hill Saturday night for a Rail Jam under the lights. Sunday’s slopestyle competition was one of the first regional slopestyle events Steamboat Resort has hosted in a couple years. It was held in Bashor Bowl consisting of 2 jumps and 2 sets of rails put together by our awesome park crew. We Winter Sports Club coaches helped work the event, Steamboat parents volunteered, and our kids rocked the boat with the results to prove it.
