Alpine

Big congratulations to Jett Seymour who won a NorAm this past week in Mont Edouard Canada! See the results here
“My first win of the NorAm series this season was amazing. It was really nice to be able to execute two clean runs. I have shown glimpses of how I have been skiing in other races, but until this point, I haven’t been able to put two clean runs together. There is no better feeling than seeing all your hard work pay off!” Seymour (DU) told Ski Racing Media. READ MORE HERE

Cross Country

Being a “first-ever” is rare, especially in a town filled with Olympians. Noel Keeffe is one of them. Born and raised in Steamboat Springs, Noel was the first Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club cross-country athlete to be named to the U.S. Cross Country Ski Team, and now he’s the first to attend a World Cup. Great job, Noel!

Snowboarding

This past weekend in order to qualify for the USASA Nationals in March – All BoarderCross races for the USASA Rocky Region where held at Ski Cooper.  This is an exciting event as athletes get to race the same course for 3 days in a row.  Each day the racers worked on different lines down the course to help with which line would be the fastest line for each racer.  Each racer went out and raced their best race.  At the end of the race each racer had a great finish.

The team was excited to have a podium sweep the first day of races.  That same age class had a great race on the final day with a photo finish for Big Final!!!  This is the type of finish that one would see at a World Cup race.  Tatum “Lighting” Lightner came across the finish line in true racer fashion with her board pushing forward thru the finish line!

All and all this weekend was packed with tons of races, smiles and many medals to bring back home.  Below are the results from our Team.

Freestyle

Inspired by the awesome skiing at Selection in the beginning of January, the U19/U17 Mogul Squad has been increasing their comfort zone by pushing speed, jump height and keeping things moving down the hill. Their hard work has shown off the past two week-ends with competitions at Vail and Aspen. With a record high ten TeamSteam members at each event, the athletes had some of their best finishes to date.

In Vail, Riley Hodges led the charge with 5th in singles and duals. Ella Walker earned 7th in singles, Anabel Ayad was 9th, Katie Mclaughlin 17th, Carina Creamer 23rd and Megan Faherty in 30th. For the boys, Xander Tater-Brown placed 13th, Christopher Stone was 26th, Misha Jensen 48th and Bridger Carleton placed 55th.

On a challenging course at Aspen Highlands, TeamSteam placed all six girl competitors in the top 10: Anabel Ayad led the way in 3rd, Riley Hodges 4th, Carina Creamer 7th, Ella Walker 8th, Izzy Powell 9th and Katie Mclaughlin 10th.  Xander Tater-Brown was again the top TeamSteam boy, placing 20th. Christopher Stone was 23rd and Misha Jensen was 55th. For duals, Carina Creamer placed 5th and Ella Walker placed 7th.

The Team has Winter Carnival week-end off and then heads to Telluride for a three day event over President’s Week-end.
