Junior Field Day

Last Tuesday, all of our younger athletes, ages U14 and below, from all disciplines, came together to participate in Field Day. This is a great day of dryland training that allows athletes to make new friends and train with different coaches. It was a gorgeous fall day for these hard working kids!

Freestyle

BIG THANKS to everyone for their help out at the water ramps this past Saturday. It was a huge success and we were so efficient with out time. It took no time to get what we needed done and everyone was off to enjoy the rest of their day! Again thank you all!

Our High Performance Mogul Team is off to Zermatt Switzerland for 2 ½ weeks and the course and weather look favorable. Look forward to seeing pictures of what the course looks like this year!

Water ramp season just concluded and it was a great one. Our most participants water ramping and participating in trampoline programs ever! Look forward to seeing everyone out there again next year!

Snowboarding

The SSWSC snowboard team decided to make a fall trip to beautiful Park City, Utah for a fall camp before winter hit. Training blasted to new heights with the first day hitting an air bag setup unlike anything the athletes had ever seen. The jam packed weekend was full of adventure, including jumping onto the air bag, hitting water ramps, skateboarding, biking in an amazing bike park, and ripping through Park City Mountain Resort’s single tracks trails.

We still are not sure what was the best part or who had more fun: the coaches or the athletes.  One thing is for sure, the consensus is that we definitely would like to go back! Park City Snowboard Camp 2018 was a great experience in which memories were made and fun was hard to avoid.

Strength and Conditioning

Last Thursday, we had 96 athletes run to the top of Emerald for the annual “Emerald Mountain Challenge.” This fun event allows athletes to choose their own course to the top of the radio towers.  50 of those finishers were repeat EMCers who set a PR. Athletes:  Please note that, depending on how fast you ran, our course this year was probably about 30-50 seconds shorter, because of construction at the radio towers. Teams were assigned to the athletes at random, with a mix of gender and disciplines. Congratulations to our fastest male finisher, U16 Cross Country Athlete Wally Magill who was part of “Team 50%” and to female U16 Alpine athlete Nicole Nolting, who was part of team Firebird.

EMC Team Scoring:

Team Firebird had 21 athletes finish the race, with an average time of 32:06, and were awarded 10 team points.
The 13 Emerald Mountain Snakes slithered in very close behind Firebird at 32:17, and they earned 7 team points.
Third place went to 50%, with 18 finishers and an average of 32:50, earning them 3 team points. (Imagine where they’d be if they stepped it up to, say, 62%)
Asparagus’ 13 runners came in fourth with an average of 34:22.

Final Team Scores for (2) SR Field Days and the EMC:

Firebird   18
50%        12
Snakes     8
Asparagus 6
