U14 Alpine Team Practices Grit and How to Ski Fast at First Slalom Races of the Season
The U14 alpine team had their first slalom races of the season in Winter Park under sunny skies!
Last week, the team identified the need for more “GRIT” in our slalom skiing, so that was the theme for the races. All athletes bought into this and fought hard!
Head Coach Joe Paul said the coaching staff really worked well together and wanted to give a special shout-out to Ellie, James, and Jeff for their efforts!
The girls started off the first race with a bang, sweeping the podium (Lucille Dietrich, Chloe Kafka, Miya Lippuner) and placing six in the top ten. Overall, for the four races, the girls had two wins, nine podiums, and 23 top 10s.
Following a pep talk after the first run for the boys, where they needed to be more aggressive, they came out charging the last three races. This led to some mistakes and DNFs, but our staff was really proud of how fast they were skiing!!
The boys had one podium (Ryder Roth) and 12 top 10s.
