NORDIC COMBINED
SSWSC Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined came to Park City in force this week with 26 skiers in total! The main event of the week was the Junior National Qualifier on the 68-meter jump where our boys Decker Dean and Elijah Vargas went 1-2 respectively in the U16 jumping competition. Bennett Gamber was close behind in 4th place and only 8 points out of podium position. Dean and Vargas went on to finish 3rd and 2nd respectively after the NC race later that day. Grant Andrews finished 3rd in U20 boys and held his position in the skate race to come home with the bronze medal. On the 45-meter hill, Canden Wilkinson, Niklas Malacinski, and Eric Belshaw swept the podium in that order! Congrats boys!!

SNOWBOARDING
SRT athlete Ekaterina Tudegesheva won the World Cup PSL at Bad Gastein Austria on Friday. This win follows on from her other recent World Cup podiums and winning the Russia Cup. SRT World Cup coach Richard Pickl was in the start gate for every run of finals as she battled it out. Her clean and consistent riding proved to be the fastest on the classic slalom pitch. Congratulations to our Russian teammate on her great year so far after joining the team this fall!

It was a great weekend in Vail for the 2nd USASA Slopestyle competition of the year. With over 100 Competitors in Freeskiing and a massive 13-15 Skier Men group of 44 athletes there was a lot of talent and great competition for our SSWSC Freeskiers. Our two girlsfinished on the podium with Josie Seible 13-15 finishing 2nd landing her first ever 360 in competition on a jump bigger than she has ever done one on before and Riley Jacobs 10-12 putting down a run with great rails and both way 360’s on the jumps. Kai Doyle 13-15 finished 4th out of 44 competitors in the largest field of the day doing a misty off of a rail and both way switch cork 720’s on the jumps.

U10/U12/U14
The U10, 12 and 14 athletes competed in two days of GS at Loveland last weekend. Although the weather was cold (under 10 deg. F the entire weekend!) the kids set the slope on fire with some scorching runs that landed the team a handful of Top 10 finishes! Annika Ort was Miss Consistency for the U12 ladies, bringing home back-to-back podium finishes on Saturday, and two Top 10’s on Sunday. Competition was stiff amongst the>U14 crowd, with boys and girls shuffling around the Top 10 throughout the weekend. The U14 athletes had podium performances from Molly Mueller, Emi Cooper, Cole Gedeon, Cooper Puckett, Nico Richeda, Finn Sadler, and Benton Sherman! Of the 4 races, the U14 athletes took 37 out of 80 top-10 finishes! Athletes had a blast, skied fast, and pushed their limits run after run! Great job Team Grizzly!
