U12 Alpine Athletes Finish Season Strong at U12 Alpine Championships
SSWSC U12 alpine athletes, 26 in total, attended the RMD U12 Alpine Championships at Aspen Highlands March 16-17. In the girl’s slalom, SSWSC Valentina Broggi raced to a strong 10th place among top competition and tough conditions, while teammate Frances Fernley, 12th rounded out the top 15 in the opening slalom. In the boy’s slalom races,  U12 athletes Holt Birkett, 3rd and 5th, Christian Biglow, 8th and 8th, and Beau Flemming, 10th and 14th, all achieved top 15 finishes.

In the girl’s giant slalom races, Valentina Broggi, 9th and 18th, Frances Fernley, 5th and 12th, and Emery Shine, 15th and 19th, raced courageously to top 20 performances. In contrast, in the final Championship races of the weekend, Christian Biglow raced to 5th place, followed closely by 3/100ths by teammate Holt Birkett in 6th place, and Breclan McCarthy, 20th to round out the top 20.
