SSWSC Annual Plastic Jumping Mini-Camp
Fifty ski jumping and nordic combined athletes participated in the SSWSC’s annual Mini-Camp last week for four days of plastic jumping. SSWSC and Park City Ski & Snowboard SJ/NC athletes, U10-U18, participated in the camp which included six sessions of jumping between Thursday and Sunday. Beautiful fall conditions and a crowd of parents and spectators greeted the jumpers for each session. The camp also offered a video session to analyze style points and educate the jumpers on the new point deductions for telemark landings. The annual camp is designed to celebrate the end of the plastic jumping season and offer an intensified block of training just before the jumps are closed for winter preparations. Snow nets will now be installed on the three plastic jumps at Howelsen Hill in preparation for the upcoming snow-making season. The hope each year is to minimize the gap between plastic jumping and snow jumping, as the first SJ/NC competitions of the season are in early December.
