The Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic moved over to Howelsen Hill Friday, December 20, for two days of exciting slalom ski racing, with the iconic night slalom on Friday night final runs under the lights! Amid a cheering crowd, fans were greeted by Santa and Santa’s trusty elf as they skied down the course to start the night festivities.The final day of racing was on Saturday, December 21, at Howelsen Hill. Over 16 colleges represented in the men’s and women’s fields this week, showing the spirit and love of skiing exemplified by Murphy Roberts. On Friday evening, Cassidy Roberts presented two $1,000 scholarships in honor of her brother Murphy Roberts to Owen Wither from Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and Carson Hume of Ski and Snowboard Club Vail. The overall winners for the 2024 Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic four-day race series were Sara Rask from the University of Denver for the women and Raphael Lessard from the University of Utah for the men.

DAY 3 RECAP - NIGHT SLALOM
57 men and 52 women made it to the second on the Howelsen Hill course in the afternoon for an opportunity to race the night slalom. Mia Hunt from the University of Denver was the night slalom winner for the women, Tatum Grosdidier, SSWSC alumnae and U.S. Ski Team athlete with the University of Utah was 2nd, and Louison Accambray was 3rd. Camden Palmquist from the U.S. Ski Team won the night slalom for the second year in a row, Filip Wahlqvist from the University of Colorado was 2nd, and Justin Bigatel from the University of Colorado was 3rd.

DAY 4 RECAP - SLALOM at HOWELSEN HILL
For the final day of the Murphy Roberts Holiday Classic the weather was clear, the sky was blue, and the course was fast—a fantastic day for all the racers. In the women’s race, Liv Moritz from the U.S. Ski Team had the fastest time for the day, and in the men’s race, Camden Palmquist with the U.S. Ski Team won for the second day in a row to take both slalom wins for the weekend. University of Denver’s Sara Rask was 2nd for the day, and SSWSC’s Logan Grosdider was 3rd and first U18. In the men’s race, Stanley Buzek from the U.S. Ski Team was 2nd, and Christian Oliveira Soevik from the University of Denver was 3rd. SSWSC’s Jeremy Nolting was 3rd Junior (12th overall). Adrian Beauregard from Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club had the fastest time for the U18 men, finishing 1st U18 (19th overall). SSWSC’s Abby Olson also landed on the U18 podium in 3rd place (21st overall). Owen Wither from SSWSC also found the U18 podium in 3rd place (38th overall)
