New Chairlift at Howelsen Hill Update
A partnership between the SSWSC and the City of Steamboat Springs that is being made possible by the generous support of Smartwool and the VF Corporation.
The original Barrows double chairlift at Howelsen Hill is gone and work is on schedule with the construction of the new fixed-grip triple chairlift that will increase capacity and shorten ride times starting this winter. New lift parts have been arriving as work starts on the foundations for the lift towers and the bottom and top stations. Trees have been cleared along the new lift line, with the bottom terminal swinging a little closer to the lodge and the top terminal remaining in the same spot. Before the month is over, expect to see progress at the top and bottom terminals as the new chairlift takes shape. For now, Howelsen sure looks different without the lift and alpine slide riders, but soon the hill will be buzzing with construction. Thank you to VF Corporation and Smartwool for their significant contribution to the club and our community and to the City of Steamboat Springs for this exciting upgrade to Howelsen Hill!!
