Freestyle
The U13 and U15 Mogul skiers had their first
competition of the year this past weekend in Telluride! It was a
solid showing for Team Steam at the Rocky Qualifier Series event on Saturday:

7th - Elizabeth Lemley
Both Elizabeth and Maisie also won their age groups.

Boys Results
6th - Andrew Lemley
9th - Anthony Mathey
16th - Wiley Wagner (Wiley took 4th place in his U11 age
class!)
On Sunday - SSWSC had one competitor in the Devo Event - Kaelyn
Radway had a great day and finished 4th amongst U11 girls!
A fantastic start to the comp season for our
mogul skiers, keep up the good work!!
Nordic Combined
Our jumpers took their first flights of the season on the
127-meter jump this week! After hours of prep work, we set the kids loose
for some serious airtime. We even sent one skier, Lucas Rowse, off the
behemoth for the first time! This hill will be featured in a
longest-standing competition this Saturday, January 23rd along with our 75 and
100-meter hills. Competitions start at 9AM and athletes will be flying
until about 1pm. This event is also a qualifier for Junior Nationals, so
you will be able to watch some of the country’s top junior athletes at the top
of their game!

U16 and U19
The SSWSC U16 and FIS Athletes combined for a week of Speed Races
in Aspen Jan 15-20. The FIS races were held in conjunction with the USSA Races
and around 239 athletes made their with down the Speed Track every day.
The Aspen Highlands Downhill and Super G Race Trail is very
wide and features 2 flat sections, 2 jumps, a wave track, and a large bowl
with numerous rolls, fall aways and banked turns. Every Steamboat athlete
gained valuable speed experience and will no doubt leave this week skiing better
than when they entered. Steamboat athletes raced in 2 Downhill Races and 2
Super G Races.
Hannah Soria started the week strong with a 3rd place finish in
the first USSA DH Race. Mary Kate Hackworthy laid down a
fast run in the 2nd FIS Downhill Race finishing 4th overall and 2nd
for the U19 Ladies. In the 2nd Men’s USSA DH Race, Cole Puckett was an
impressive 2nd place, improving upon his 9th place in the day prior. In
the 2nd Women’s USSA DH Margaret Dickson ended up in 5th place with
fast skiing on the lower more technical part of the course.
Jett Seymour was 15th Overall in first of 2 Men’s FIS
Super G’s, in a race that featured US Ski Team Athletes. On the same day on the
USSA side Trey Seymour led the way for the U16’s in 4th, Cole Puckett 6th
and Chase Seymour 11th. In the USSA Ladies side that day Hannah Soria was
11th and Sequoia Anstine was 15th.
In the 2nd Super G and last day of racing Lauren Chavez landed in
15th place overall in the FIS Race. In the USSA SG Women’s Race Hannah
Soria starting 31st beat the entire U16 Field to win the race! Margaret Dickson
had another strong showing landing in 10th. On the USSA Men’s side Cole
Puckett again showcased his speed skiing skills landing in 3rd place. Trey
Seymour wound up 6th the same day and Colton Sankey was 15th.
The U16 and U19 Coaches were pleased with the results and happy
with the way our athletes raced and improved over the week on the fast and
challenging speed track.
