Alpine
U16
The U16 Alpine Team was in Aspen last week for the 37th annual Wilder Dwight Speed Series. For many it was their first Downhill, and they all showed courage, resilience and some true grit! The courses were challenging and fun and the SSWSC athletes demonstrated their strong skiing skills over the course of the 2 Downhill and 2 Super-G Races. These race results will serve as a U16 Qualifier for the U16 Rocky Central Regional Championships, which will be held in Steamboat March 7-11.
In the first of two Women’s Downhill Races for Steamboat, it was Mollie McTigue in 2nd and Abby Olson in 4th. In Downhill Race #2, it was Abby Olson leading the way for SSWSC in 2nd place, Noelle Roth took 3rd and Mollie McTigue landing in 6th (after nearly missing a gate).
In the first of two Women’s SG races, Noelle Roth took 2nd place, Mollie McTigue finished 4th and Abby Olson placed 7th. In the 2nd Women’s SG Race, it was Noelle Roth following up her strong skiing from the first race and taking the win in the 2nd race! Abby Olson finished with another solid result in 4th and Mollie McTigue finished 6th.
In the first Men’s DH Race it was Adrian Beauregard taking the win! He was followed by teammates Curtis Zanni in 3rd, and Caman Beauregard in 8th. In the 2nd Downhill race Adrian Beauregard again displayed strong skiing and real grit to take the top step of the podium, and his brother Caman again finished 8th.
In the 2 Men’s Super G races, Adrian Beauregard finished 2nd and 5th, Curtis Zanni was 4th and 9th, Caman Beauregard was 7th and 9th, and Caspian Troan was 13th in the 2nd SG race.
