Freeskiing
The Freeskiers have just finished up with our evening ramp sessions, which means that there is only one session left. It’s a great way too beat the heat, bounce on tramps and ski here at home. The last session runs July 30 through August 10.

Cross Country
The 2018 SSWSC XC Test Camp wrapped up on Thursday July 19th. As the name indicates, the Camp is designed around 4 Tests:
1. Canadian Cross Country Strength Test- 5 body resistance tests done every other minute.
2. The Hot Springs Time Trial- a traditional uphill running test done on CR 36 at the north end of Strawberry Park.
3. The Sanctuary Double Pole Time Trial- an upper body only roller ski test on a mainly uphill section of Steamboat Boulevard.
4. 3,000 Meter Run- this has been standard baseline test for XC athletes for many years. This year we had to run the race at the Strawberry Park Middle School Track- gravel, grass, and standing water. Coach Smullin pointed out that many of the world’s top distance runners are from Africa and only see a formal track at major championships.
Each event is scored based on result placement and there is a running total as the days progress. We had guest athletes from New Hampshire, Aspen, and Gunnison.
Top 3 male finishers:
1. Finn O’Connell- UVM/SSWSC
2. Garrett Butts- Gunnison Nordic
3. Wyatt Gebhardt- SSWSC/CU
Top Female finishers:
1. Waverly Gephardt- SSWSC
2. Kathleen O’Connell- MSU/SSWSC
3. Dasha Kuznetsova- SSWSC/NMU
