Multiple Podiums for Freeski Athletes at Winter Park IFSA Competitions
SSWSC brought almost 40 athletes to Winter Park for two IFSA competitions over the weekend on March 2-3. The venue was in the Hole-in-the-Wall zone, and the conditions were interesting.
In Saturday’s event, her first competition, Francesca Verson, skied her way to a silver medal, with teammate Zoe Chase beside her in 3rd for the U15 female skiers. In the U15 male skiers, SSWSC took half of the top ten, with Mason Stewart in 1st, Paddock Whitten in 2nd, Banks Ward in 5th, Vander Zuck in 8th, and Fergus Kemp in 9th.
In the U19 male skiers category, Thomas Agosta and Koen Stroock shared the podium, finishing 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Gavin Murphy made it into the top ten, finishing 8th.
On Sunday, Winter Park had a fresh 7” of snow, but conditions were still firm under the new snow. Dropping second in the day, Seva Johnathans shredded her way to 4th, and Molly Grady to 6th in the U15 ski females.
In U15 male skiers, Cooper Churchley dropped straight in to wow the judges and crowd with a huge second-place run. Mason Lipscomb kept the heat up with a technical line to bring himself into 4th place.
