Freeskiing
Congratulations to Bryan Gilbertson who placed 2nd at the Snowbird National! This is a huge win for Steamboat Freeskiing. The kickoff National event for IFSA is at Snowbird Resort. Normally “Silverfox” is the final venue for junior events and they had so much snow it was qualifiers. Finals were on “The LEGENDARY NORTH BALDY” (normally the finals venue for adult comps). Bryan Gilbertson qualified on “Silverfox” in 5th place with a huge drop off “standard air” followed by an air at the bottom of the venue, that the announcers compared to Ian Borgenson (junior frees ride champ in ’08 and now on the Freeride World Tour). His finals run was even better. He sent the known “squirrel air” on north baldy followed by a 40 foot air into the chute out of “the broom closet” which he stomped and motored thru the finish with ease. He finished in 2nd place out of a cumulative score over the 2 runs and no wrecks out of the other top 5. Great skiing from our Big Mountain Senior!!!!!
This is a huge step in Steamboat Freeride and a huge achievement for this young athlete.Check out his video on Facebook!
