Freestyle Moguls Athlete Anabel Ayad Qualifies for Junior World Championships at U.S. Selections
TeamSteam sent seven freestyle moguls athletes, Anabel Ayad, Mia Satkiewizc, Reise Wilson, Liam Siefken, Peyton Billeisen, Shane Mariano, and Beck Ward to U.S. Selections at Winter Park last weekend, December 13-15, 2024 to compete against the top mogul athletes from around the country for World Cup and Junior World Championships starts. With one day of singles and one day of duals, the athletes were pushed in all aspects of mogul skiing, from jump execution to clean skiing and speed. Anabel Ayad placed 7th in singles and had a career-best FIS finish of 2nd in duals. The 2nd place qualifies Ayad for the Junior World Championships in Kazakstan at the beginning of January.
Mia Satkiewicz was 28th in singles and 31st in duals. Reise Wilson, in her first FIS event, was 24th in singles and 60th in duals. For the men, Peyton Billeisen was 19th in singles and 50th in duals in his second competition back from injury. Shane Mariano, in his first U.S. Selections event, ended up 39th in single moguls and 20th in duals. Beck Ward, in his first event back from knee surgery, was 4th in singles and 24th in duals. Liam Siefken crashed in his first run and opted to sit out the rest of the competition.
Congrats to all the athletes! TeamSteam looks forward to hosting the next Rocky Mountain Freestyle Comp Series event on Voodoo, January 3-5.
