Nine SSWSC Athletes will Compete in Ski Jumping Nordic Combined Junior Championships
Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club sends nine athletes to the Ski Jumping Nordic Combined Junior Championships in Anchorage, Alaska. Mckenzie Maines, Piper Mouttet, Ethan Maines, Austin Johnson, Nico Bowdre, Everett Baldwin, Fritz Gamber, Kaden Graham, and Miles Warnke will compete in the events from February 27 to March 2. SSWSC athletes Ella Wilson, Haley Brabec, Jason Colby, Sawyer Graves, Arthur Tirone, and Estella Hassrick all qualified but will not attend this year; they are just returning from the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Planica, Slovenia, and Hassrick and Colby are also competing in World Cup events. Coaches Garrett Fisk and Todd Willson will join the athletes for the trip. The Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage, Alaska (NSAA) will host the best athletes in the country competing for Junior Championship titles with three ski jumping events and two Nordic Combined events. Fur Rondy and the historic Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race Anchorage start will also be going on during the week. For more information on the event visit the NSAA Junior Championships website.
