Snowboard Senior Team Dominates the Podium in Boardercross Races at Copper Mountain
February 3-5, five Snowboard Senior Team athletes traveled to Copper Mountain to compete in three days of boardcross racing. Cooper Malia and Bode Wellstone battled it out all weekend, trading the top two spots on the podium Saturday and Sunday. Riley McNew got back in the gate for the first time this year, showing really strong progression from last season while gracefully navigating some new equipment changes. Mason Kemp found the podium all three days, even after a spectacular crash in one of the early rounds on Monday. Calvin Lieberman impressed in his first boardercross race ever, by making it through the first round of heats, ultimately finishing 4th on the day. While the on course action was successful, the team was equally as excited/proud/ insert better adjective here about their off the hill expeierences which included a Team Barn session, family meals, and a competitive night at the bowling alley – warning: do not take a match against Bode Wellstone lightly.
